Embracing the Wild Self
In our modern, fast-paced world, it's easy to lose touch with our connection to the natural world. We become disconnected from the natural flow of life, from the natural rhythms that govern the world around us. We lose touch with the magic that is inherent in the world. And in doing so, we lose touch with a part of ourselves - what I call our Wild Self.
The Wild Self is the part of ourselves that is connected to the wild spirit of the land. It is the part of ourselves that is free from the constraints of modern life and is instead connected to the ancient wisdom of the natural world. It is a deeper sense of who we are that acknowledges our interdependence with the rest of nature and recognises that we are part of the web of life.
But why have we become disconnected from our Wild Self and the natural world? We live in a society that values productivity, efficiency, and speed over connection, presence, and reflection. We are constantly surrounded by technology, which often distracts us from the natural flow of life. Our disconnection from the natural world has left us feeling unfulfilled and disconnected from a deeper sense of purpose.
The ecological self is another term describing this aspect of our being that acknowledges our interdependence with the rest of nature. However, the Wild Self goes further than the ecological self by connecting us to all aspects of the world in a transcendental way. It is a part of ourselves that is connected to all that is, to the very fabric of the universe. The Wild Self is not limited to our physical presence on this planet but is also a part of our spiritual being.
Honouring our spiritual connection with all of life is essential in reconnecting with our Wild Self. When we honour this connection, we tap into a deep well of wisdom and knowledge that has been passed down through the ages. We become part of a lineage that stretches back to the very beginning of time, and we gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our place in the world.
Learning to reconnect with our Wild Self is the doorway back to connection with the natural world. It can start with taking the time to slow down, to be present in the world around us, and to listen to the whispers of our intuition, but continues with different pathways and approaches of growing an earth-centred spiritual connection withing you. We become more attuned to the natural rhythms of the world and more in touch with the magic that is inherent in the world.
Reconnecting with our Wild Self is essential in finding our deeper sense of purpose and connection in the world, and learning to live lives that are in harmony with the rest of the living world. By connecting with our Wild Self, we tap into a deep well of wisdom and knowledge that has been passed down through the ages, and we find a sense of peace, harmony, and purpose that is often missing from our modern lives.
